editorial for Grazia Casa

In life we all follow a path and mine is the water.
It is like an inner force guiding me through life and showing me the most amazing things related to it.

I love the sea as it takes me travelling to the most remote places where I can meet many interesting and different people.

In my following work for Grazia Casa I wanted to recreate the flow of actions and thoughts that water help me to carry throughout my life.

The freshness, the zen, the purity you gain it is priceless. It is like to be in a different world filled of dreams, hopes and possibilities.

Many people included most of my friends chose this path and they keep surfing their life with a inner spirit it can only be found throughout meditation.

So, enjoy my drawings wishing you to feel, smell and taste that wave of sensation I constantly carry with me.

(The following are a few people I got inspired through my life and who carried the same passion I have for the sea. They made their love for the water a mission showing to the World new limits to cross. Thanks to: Audrey Mestre, Jacques Cousteau, Belinda Baggs, David Attenborough and many others)

open air studio

my latest portrait...ready to take off to japan

I'm always happy to spend my afternoons at home, painting.
My house is in the middle of nowhere...but it's a pretty nowhere!
I love everything about this place: the silence, the nature and the view.
I could not live in a city anymore.
A creative person should know which is the best environment to feed  creativity.
Even if I love to travel, it's such a nice feeling to be back home.
Another thing I love is working with the hands..What a pleasure.
Recently I found a blog called "A pair & a Spare".
Geneva, the Author, gives a lot of fancy tips about DIY (do it yourself).
My favourites sections are "home and interior" and "sewing"

What I've learned from this blog is also to find our ideal costumers.

In my career I have the chance to work with big names, like The Times Newspaper, Moschino Jeans, Corriere della Sera Newspaper, Quiksilver just to name a few.
I love the challenge, visibility and prestige these clients allow my works to have...
But I also found out that being in touch with smaller realities can be very nice too, especially when people contact me for a painting. That is great!

A very important step in my creative search was when I realized how much pleasure I had realizing portraits. When the painting looks like the person in front of me, I feel like a magician who got reach to the fundamental nature (quintessence) of the individual. It is an alchemical process that makes me feel very close and connected to both the portrait and the subject. Every time I travel, I sketch people I meet and it makes books full of stories, lives and friends for me. This is a way to keep them in my heart, as every single drawing means feelings, impressions and memories that will last forever. The best was when a friend shyly asked me: "Natalia... Would you do a portrait for me?" And the story began.

If you want a custom portrait too, contact me!
