justine

My gallery of portraits continues with the beauty and the grace of Justine Mauvin.

She's from Reunion Island: we met a couple of years ago in Hossegor at the Quiksilver House.

Justine is a very talented singer, an amazing surfer and a model:
this is for sure this a great presentation.

but ...
what I mostly remember about her is a very mellow and sweet attitude.
She even looked a bit shy in my eyes!

Than, at the end of the day, she would take a guitar and start a jam session with a surprising powerful voice...

Patricia Manfield

I'm exercizing like crazy on my "Portrait Project":
I'm drawing a lot of friends, cool people, celeb, surfers, strangers...

Patricia Manfield? She's just so simple and intense.
I really enjoyed to paint her face, there is something "ancient" in her gestures.
I find a special "allure" in this girl that brings me back to the history of art.
She reminds me Raffaello, for example.

Lately, I've been very inspired by the fifties, also. Maybe Patricia does too?
At that time the elegance of lines, the lenght of the skirts and proportions were always perfect.
Very interesting for my fashion drawing studies.
And I tell to myself: keep it simple!

This is my tribute to elegance and beauty.
there is Match more to come! xxx

every time I think of you, I see palm trees

I dedicate this post to mega babe Lex Weinstein.

7 reasons why I love her:

1) she lives in the other side of the world, in Byron Bay, Australia.
This sounds very exotic for me, it's very inspiring for my vision.

(I'm inventing new stories with my drawings and I wanna thank God for this amazing gift he gave me)

2) Lex is a very good stylist and a blogger without being obsessed by clothes.
She's not cheesy like a lot of fashion blogger do.
Her look is always very natural, indeed.

3) She is a surfer and actually, she is ripping. (BTW)
But Lex is very far from the classic surfer girl stereotype:
"I'm blonde,  I 'm a beach bum, I'm so f*** sexy"
no!  This is totally another story.
She's a real adventuress!

4) She is very feminine.
A gorgeous lady knows how to treat her body, right?
I love her self awareness.
Her gestures are always so spontaneous !
She is a goddess and she's not perfect at the same time.
Very human, I'd say.

5) She's vegan. (Thumbs up!)

6) I admire her spiritualistic approach toward life.
The intense way she plays with the elements...I believe she's a dreamer like me.

7) Lex is also a very smart business lady and she knows how to use tools from technology.
Wich is very difficult these days.

The Seafarer Jeans (a lucky joint venture)

I'm so stoked about my collab with the Seafarer Jeans:

http://www.theseafarer.com/it/

we are having a massive media coverage,
my illustrations were spotted in :
Vogue it, Vogue paris, Amica, L'Officiel, Le Figaro, Vanity Fair among others..

the inspiration comes from great icons from the past:
-Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and Farraw Fawcett -
are wearing Seafarer in my drawings, with their usual allure.

I was very happy during the process of creation,
those women are real ICONS for me,
and the pictures I used for this campaing were more than inspiring.

Some women are born winners.

ICONS

There are people who, thanks to their talent, expressiveness, charm and explosive personality fascinate many people and become style icons. Women who remain icons in days, months and years to come... not meteors, but real stars..
I'm glad to present my latest work for redmilk magazine where I've illustrated these amazing women:

in order of appearance:

ELLE FERGUSON - (theyallhateus.com) “Mum is my style inspiration. She is flawless.” Elle Ferguson is the co-founder, along with Tash Sefton from the blog TheyAllHateUs. Her passion for the street style goes hand in hand with the one for denim shorts that leave uncovered her legs and allowed her to be called “queen of denim cut-offs.” She loves having a not complex look… that suggesting to have put on the first things found in the closet. A fresh look and super super smiling.

CAROLINE DE MAIGRET (carolinedemaigret.tumblr.com) - “I always loved music. When I was a kid I would go to rock concerts in Paris in the same neighborhood that I live in now.” Caroline de Maigret is a model and music producer. Her name does not embody only a style, but represents one of a whole city, Paris, while that “de” in the last name suggests aristochic origins. She begins working as a model in 1994 and Mario Testino, Peter Lindbergh and Terry Richardson have been competing to shot her. She models for Chanel, Balenciaga and Marc Jacobs and has launched her own record label called Bonus Tracks Records with her partner. She is a muse with an adventurous life and a passion for eccentric people.

STEPHANIE GILMORE (stephgilmore.blogspot.it) - “Surfing is the dream of my life and I cannot imagine my days without the waves of the ocean.” Born in 1988, Australian surfer and five-time world champion at the Surf ASP. Stephanie Gilmore started surfing at the age of ten thanks to the teachings of her father and since then she has never stopped. Stephanie trains every day to stay fit and lives most of her life conditioned by the presence of the waves in the ocean. Difficult for her to imagine a life without her surfboard!

ECE SUKAN (twitter.com/ece_sukan) - “I’m so super spontaneous and I love improvisation. There is this organized chaos in me, and you can see how it reflects in my way of dressing, in my wardrobe, in my styling… in everything.” Fashion stylist, creative consultant and fashion writer. Ece Sukan has a style that has influenced her country of origin, Turkey. Her passion for fashion and for vintage began when she was a child and she followed her mother, theater actress, in backstage. So between costumes and jewelry Ece Sukan starts to build her career. What is her work? Ece dreams of a woman, her story and immediately begins to dream about her clothes and to create a fairy tale. She divides her time between Istanbul, New York and Milan and a few months ago she became the wife of the designer Umit Benan.

MARIACARLA BOSCONO – ” How did I become a muse? Maybe the secret has been to be in touch with the truest part of me.” Mariacarla Boscono is an Italian model who has the special power to transform herself and interpret a different character each time. Mysterious creature, dreamy and she has become, over the years, the undisputed supermodel desired by everyone. The Boscono is a fascinating muse with style and represents an alternative to the classical canons of beauty, showing that this lies more in doing that in appearing.

KENZA FOURATI (kenzafourati.net) - “I come from a family of women … women are very powerful.” Daughter of a French and a Tunisian, she began modeling by chance: a friend of her mother was organizing the The Elite Model Look Tunisia and proposed her to participate. She practices yoga, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and snorkeling and is engaged to Johan Lindeberg, creative director of BLK DNM. Kenza Fourati has grown receiving Islamic education, but her modeling work has enabled her to pose in a swimsuit without problems. And listening to her… why one thing should exclude the other one?
