DIPLOOS
Since a few years I teach "fashion illustrations" @ IUAV University of Venice, Italy.
This post is dedicated to my beloved student Diletta ♥
She designed amazing outfits called "diplòos". (see picture)
One day she asked me to draw a few illustrations inspired by her creations.
I was in Morocco at that time and the fatima's hand (hamsa) is part of the story.
Now she is "building" a t-shirt for me... I can't wait to wear it!
Wishing to Diletta Albertini a long career full of beautiful colors...
love! NR

THE PORTRAIT PROJECT
A very important step in my creative search was when I realized how much pleasure I had realizing portraits.
When the painting looks like the person in front of me, I feel like a magician who got reach to the fundamental nature (quintessence) of the individual.
It is an alchemical process that makes me feel very close and connected to both the portrait and the subject.
Every time I travel, I sketch people I meet, and it makes books full of stories, lives and friends for me.
This is a way to keep them in my heart, as every single drawing means feelings, impressions and memories that will last forever.
The best was when a friend shyly asked me: "Natalia... Would you do a portrait for me?"
And the story began.
Coming up next on my website: a special Portrait Section!
Stay tuned on www.nataliaresmini.com

lines
"it's all about drawing lines"
Surfing is a form of art. It's a story about sliding smootly. When I'm in the water I always imagine to draw lines in the water. The ingredients are balance, instinct and elegance. Painting is also about tracing lines on paper. This two activities are very related for me. Watercolors are "surfing" on the surface, combining colors, imagination and new forms.

Africa: fragments of images as tangible evidence of experiences. I mix the elements: water, color, shape & memory. It seems like a dream but it happened for real.
When I'm in Morocco I experience the magic. The poetic aspect of things matters very much: I always try to find poetry... It's my luxury.

The perceptions that I had taught me how to read the "nuances".
On the "first world" we have a mathematical conception of time, so the minute it has a precise value.
Days full of "I'm messy" or "Today I'm sooo busy" (...)
In Africa, people have a lot of time, always.
Anyone is welcome at home, for eating, drinking and talking.

I'm not saying we should all become Africans, each has his own reality.
But the knowledge to run forever ... slows down the ride!
